Dr. Ömer Lütfi Alaybeyi, a prominent industrialist from Konya and one of the leading figures in milling and food processing technologies in Türkiye, has passed away at the age of 91. His death has been met with deep sorrow across the business world and the global milling community, where he earned great respect through decades of contribution and innovation.
The foundations of the family’s commercial activities were laid in the 1950s by the late Salim Alaybeyi, who was actively involved in wheat trading, baking, and milling until 1964. During this period, it was decided that Dr. Ömer Lütfi Alaybeyi would specialize in milling technologies to carry the family legacy forward.
He was sent to France, where he completed both his undergraduate and graduate studies in milling technologies. Thanks to his outstanding achievements during his education, he was referred to by the French as the “Inventive Turkish Engineer.”
After completing his education, Dr. Alaybeyi returned to Türkiye and took a significant step into the food processing equipment manufacturing sector by founding Molino. The company quickly established a strong position in the industry, particularly through its work in turnkey integrated milling plants.
With Dr. Alaybeyi’s vision, advanced European technologies were introduced to Türkiye, contributing significantly to the development of the domestic industry. Today, Molino has grown into an international brand, delivering integrated milling facilities to many countries around the world, including France.
Throughout his professional life, Dr. Ömer Lütfi Alaybeyi contributed not only through his investments but also through his knowledge, experience, and mentorship. He is widely regarded as one of the most distinguished and influential figures in the milling sector.
The funeral of Dr. Ömer Lütfi Alaybeyi will take place on Friday, April 24, 2026, following the Friday prayer at Hacı Fettah Külahçı Mosque, after which he will be laid to rest at Hacı Fettah Cemetery.
