Today, we celebrate with great pride and joy the 104th anniversary of the Victory of 30 August, when our nation’s great struggle for independence and freedom was crowned with victory.
30 August is not merely a military triumph; it stands as one of the most powerful examples of faith, determination, unity and solidarity ever recorded in history. This unique victory, achieved under the leadership of the Great Leader, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and his comrades-in-arms, is one of the most significant demonstrations of our nation’s resolve to determine its own future through its own will.
Our greatest responsibility is to recognise the value of this legacy and to lead our country towards a stronger future in every field; to contribute to our nation’s future with the strength and inspiration we draw from the past; and to work with the same determination and resolve for a stronger, more productive and more prosperous Turkey. The efforts each of us makes in our own fields will be one of the most valuable legacies we leave for the Republic’s future. Producing, working, keeping pace with innovations, and advancing knowledge and technology are the fundamental elements of strengthening our independence both economically and technologically.
On this significant day, we commemorate all the heroes of our War of Independence, foremost among them Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, with respect, gratitude and prayers for their souls.
We celebrate our nation’s 30 August Victory Day with my most heartfelt wishes; We pray that our independence and our Republic may endure for ever.
